This week’s Talking Story is all about litter and waste, and the impact on the environment and the animals who share it. You can ORDER A FREE VIDEO called “Share the World” which contains a section about how litter harms animals.
In the classroom this week: Have some fun with goal-scoring word-building on your interactive whiteboard or on any computer. Children need to build simple three-letter words to score a goal: IT’S A GOAL!

This game will help learners to think about:
consonants and consonant clusters at the start and end of words
medial short and long vowel sounds
The game can be played at three different levels of activity. Use your interactive whiteboard, or any classroom computer.
This week all three levels will focus on revising the key words for this term. Ensure that children cut the words out individually and keep them in a small plastic bag (e.g. a bank bag). This helps to avoid them simply reciting all the words on a page. They need to learn to recognise and ’sound out’ each word.
You can also use these words in a spelling test on Friday. It is important that children can write the words as well as read them. Use the look-cover-write-check method to learn the spellings each day.
